Paula Abdul, renowned for her talents in singing and dancing, has taken legal action, alleging that Nigel Lythgoe, the executive producer of American Idol, subjected her to sexual assault. In her lawsuit, she recounts an incident during an early season of American Idol, where she claims Nigel assaulted her in an elevator, as reported by Variety.

According to Paula's account, she detailed an encounter where Nigel forcibly cornered her and made unwanted physical advances. She described trying to fend him off and swiftly retreating to her room as soon as the elevator doors opened.

Years later, while serving as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance, Paula accepted an invitation to Nigel's home under the impression of a professional meeting. However, she alleged that Nigel attempted to initiate an intimate encounter, claiming they could become a formidable "power couple." Paula asserts she rebuffed his advances and promptly left his residence, as per the lawsuit's claims.

Additionally, Paula claims witnessing Nigel sexually assault one of her assistants in April 2015.

The lawsuit highlighted Paula Abdul's silence over the years, attributing it to her fear of confronting a prominent figure in television production, fearing repercussions that could harm her career. She expressed concerns about the industry's tendency to protect influential individuals and silence survivors of harassment and assault, as detailed in the lawsuit.

Paula's employment on both reality shows involved signing non-disclosure agreements, prohibiting her from divulging confidential or negative information.
